We are sometimes asked to fit appliances which are not new, usually cookers.
Being guided by CORGI (now replaced by Gas Safe Register), we do not fit appliances without a proper set of installation instructions or if the appliance is damaged or has been modified.
Contact us for more details.

We are Registered with the new Gas Safe Register (previously CORGI) and believe that it is essential that customers understand how seriously we take this.
Please feel free to check our registration at the Gas Safe Register website
Q. Why do you not publish your charges here on your web site?
A. For most jobs, the price of the work depends upon individual circumstances, such as the type of work needed, the property where the work is to be carried out etc. No two homes are the same and for this reason, it would be misleading to give prices here. We are happy to give quotations for all kinds of work, but would not do so without first calling to discuss requirements. Free estimates (Obviously!).
For servicing work (see Servicing), prices are given, but again, the price depends upon the appliance to be serviced. We give discounts for multiple appliances serviced in the same dwelling at the same time.
Q. Do you have any previous customers who would provide a reference?
A. Yes. We have several customers who would happily talk to you about the work we have carried out for them. For privacy reasons, we do not publish their details on our web site. We always like to inform our previous customers that we have had a request for a reference before giving their name & number out.
A. We have full public liability insurance.
Q. Do you work on weekends or evenings?
A. When it is unavoidable. We work long hours during the week and tend to avoid planning work for weekends and after 16:00. We do not mind coming out to attend to problems for our established customers, or to give estimates, but we would prefer to arrange visits within 08:30 - 16:00 during the week.
We do not provide an emergency plumbing service. We do not usually attend to dripping taps and other minor disasters, leaving that to plumbers out there who are happy to be called out in the middle of the night (and charge you a nice price for it!).
Q. Why is your quote not the cheapest?
A. We provide a quality service for a reasonable price. We are often not the cheapest company when it comes to installing central heating but we provide good quality boilers, properly installed and with the backing of the Notification Scheme. We are registered to self-certify our work through Building Control and you have the assurance that we have nothing to hide from either Gas Safe Register (or, previously CORGI) or Building Control - can many other installers offer you a good service, with a good appliance? Will they inform Building Control for you? Will they even be Gas Safe (previously CORGI) registered?
Q. Are you qualified to Part P of the Building Regulations for electrical work?
A. We have installed many many gas central heating boilers and systems. These have been successfully, and safely wired by ourselves, or where required, by a competent electrician. We have recently (Dec 2005) gained a City & Guilds IEE 16th Edition qualification which will enabled us to offer "defined scope Part P" compliance.
"Defined scope" refers to the limited nature of the scheme - it means that while we have the IEE 16th Edition qualification, we are not electricians. Our work is limited to that involved in the installation of central heating boilers and associated electrical controls.
We have found that it is better for us, and for our customers, that we use a qualified electrician for most jobs where the electrical work involves more than simply re-using a supply from a previous boiler. We arrange the electrician's visit and pay for their efforts as part of the quoted price for a job. Of course, a customer can supply their own electrician at a cost to themselves.
Q. Why can't you take away the waste from your work?
A. We are not licensed to carry or dispose of waste. If we were to obtain such a licence, it would add to the cost of each job. We believe that most of the North East local authorities offer a free waste collection service. We advise all customers to contact their Local Authority to arrange collection of waste.
Q. Can you install "Megaflows"?
A. Yes. We have a qualification that allows us to install unvented domestic hot water storage vessels. We also have experience of installing these systems. This includes Megaflows.
